Michelin launched its guide for the Windy City, naming 24 fine dining establishments and giving them star ratings. At the top of the heap are Alinea and L20 which both garnered three stars, pushing them into the elite circle of 91 global restaurants that also got the elusive three stars.

Alinea makes use of the “molecular gastronomy” principle popularized by renowned Spanish restaurant El Bulli. Alinea’s cheg Grant Achatz was trained in the said restaurant, giving him the chops and technical excellence as well as a mind for exciting innovations that make dining in Alinea truly an experience.

Under the helm of French chef Laurent Gras, L20 takes seafood dining into a new level with its influential and modern menu.

Two Michelin stars were given to Avenues, Charlie Trotter’s and Ria. Another 18 of Chicago’s fine dining crème of the crop were awarded one star.

This review only signifies that Chicago is a fine conglomeration of many global influences when it comes to fine dining.
