All eyes are still on Japan and the massive destruction it suffered after being hit by an earthquake and a tsunami. Many lives were lost and millions of property destroyed, and this finds the rest of the world joining hands in the relief effort to help the embattled Asian nation back on its feet. Recently, luxury fashion names have joined together for a charity effort that will benefit Japan.
Unique Vintage has pledged to donate 20 percent of the revenue from their Umbrella Collection to the American Red Cross. Their charity drive will last from March 23 to April 6. On the other hand, six handbags from Rebecca Minkoff are included in the Japan relief Collection. For each handbag sold from this collection, the designer will give $100.
Luxury fashion designer Tory Burch also created a Japan Relief T-Shirt that will go on sale until September 12, 2011. All proceeds from the online sales of the shirts shall be donated to help the Japan Earthquake and Pacific tsunami survivors. Every person who buys the shirt will also be entitled to free shipping.
Opening Ceremony is also tying up with the American Red Cross by giving 100 percent of its profits from the sales of the Red Cross Japan Tee. The design is pretty fantastic with a red dot at the front of the shirt, an homage to Japan’s flag.
Other luxury fashion designers are also set to have an online charity sale dubbed “Fashion & Friends for Japan.” It will be hosted by Charitybuzz.com and will start on April 5.
